Axel

The axel is the only jump that begins on the forward outside edge of the skate.

 

Single:

The skater takes off on the forward outside edge of the skate, completes 1 1/2 rotations in the air and lands on the opposite foot on the back outside edge.

Double:

The skater takes off on the forward outside edge and completes 2 1/2 rotations and lands on the back outside edge of the opposite foot.

Triple:

The skater takes off on the forward outside edge and completes 3 1/2 rotations and lands on the back outside edge of the opposite foot.
