Alexei Began skating when he was 4. His natural talent was clear from the beginning. He began competing internationally in 1994 and finished in 4th place at the Junior World Championships. In 1996 he became the Junior World Champion. In 1998 Alexei began training with Tatiana Tarasova. Under her watchful eye Alexei flourished. When he was 18 he became the first Russian man to ever win at the World Championships and the youngest World Champion ever. Alexei has been the World Champion 4 times and became the Olympic Champion at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games.
