At the age of 5, Sasha began gymnastics and progressed to level 5.  At age 10, Sasha began skating seriously. By the time she was 11, she had mastered all of her double jumps except the double axel.

She entered the 2000 U.S. National Championships as a senior, after passing her senior test in the summer of '99, hoping to finish in the top 4. She placed 1st after the short program, and second after the long program and finished second overall winning the silver medal.

Sasha had to withdraw from the 2001 U.S. National Championships due to a back injury.

Sasha finished in 4th place at the 2001 Goodwill Games in Brisbane, Australia, on September 8th, 2001, and 1st at Finlandia Trophy in Helsinki, Finland, on October 7th.
