At the young at of 3 Naomi began ballet dancing and preformed in "The Nutcracker" from the age of 6 until she was 15. When she was 8 she was an Ice Capades show and started taking lessons.

 Naomi began ice dancing when she was 12. With her first partner John Lee, she won the gold medal at the 1995 U.S. Novice National Championships and the silver medal at the 1996 U.S. Junior National Championships. Their partnership ended in 1996.

 Naomi was the first Native America to compete in the Winter Olympic Games.

 Peter began skating when he was 6 years old. He started out in singles but after an ankle he switched ice dancing.

 Peter moved to the U.S. with his former wife, fellow ice dancer Natalia Annenko, in 1992.

 Peter earned is U.S. citizenship on January 29th, 2001 so that he could compete for the U.S. with Naomi at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games where they placed 11th.
