Povilas began skating at the young age of 4 because of his mothers involvement in the sport (she is currently the Lithuanian national coach). Povilas had little experience in ice dancing when he teamed up with Margarita when he was 18. Margarita and Povilas made the perfect team, both on and off the ice. They were married on June 4th, 2000. They have been the Lithuanian National Champions 11 times and finished 5th at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. At the 2002 World Championships the judges gave them marks that were MUCH lower than what they deserved and they finished in fourth place.
